A Senior Executive at Bancassurance, Rendell Teo engages with relationship managers and corporate insurers to develop MSIG’s business. Specialising in general insurance, he is always on the lookout for new businesses and acknowledges that not all sales pitches go his way.
He says: “With every failure, we are able to learn what went right and wrong. In cases where we didn’t provide enough for the client, we will feedback to our underwriters and management. What keeps me going is that there is always another opportunity out there.”
Rendell has his brother to thank for introducing him to the insurance industry some 5 years ago. His brother, who was working at MSIG then, suggested that he apply for the risk surveyor position. Impressed by the company’s presence and stability, and with his background in engineering, he decided to give it a go.
Always looking to improve himself, he pursued his current business development role with the Rotate to Grow programme. “This is a healthy environment to grow your career as the company is always looking out for people who can perform multiple roles,” he says.
Quizzed on what he enjoys most about working at MSIG, Rendell says: “I appreciate how people from different departments are always ready to go out of the way and extend help. We treat each other as internal customers rather than colleagues from another department.”
